The I-360 (Petition for Amerasian, Widow(er), or Special Immigrant) is a petition filed with USCIS as part of the Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS) process. If your petition was approved, USCIS sent you an approval notice called an I-797C. You need this approval before you can file your I-485 green card application. Your I-360 approval date is your “priority date” — it’s your place in line. Every month, the U.S. Department of State publishes a Visa Bulletin with cutoff dates for each visa category. Your priority date must be before the cutoff date for your category to file your I-485. USCIS determines each month whether to use the “Dates for Filing” or “Final Action Dates” chart. If the bulletin shows a date (like “15JUL22”), your priority date must be before that date to file. If it shows “C” (Current), anyone in that category can file regardless of their priority date. For SIJS (EB-4), there is currently a backlog — your I-360 must have been received by USCIS before July 15, 2022 to file now (per the June 2026 Visa Bulletin).
